Dan is a second-generation Land Surveyor who began working for a well-established Seattle firm during his summer breaks in College. In 2002, after receiving his degree in Geography & Land Studies from Central Washington University he began his full-time career surveying for a Municipal Engineering firm with projects located throughout Washington State. After relocating to Yakima in 2011 and managing survey projects throughout Eastern Washington, Dan was determined to plant his roots and the inspiration for Cypher Land Surveying was born.

In 2018 with the help of his friends at Leslie Engineering the firm was launched. An active member of the Land Surveyors Association of Washington and a proponent of emerging technologies Dan is a diligent lifetime learner and has a passion for surveying.
